Tiraspol does not agree with the principle of keeping Moldova’s territorial integrity promoted at the talks in the 5+2 format. In a press briefing, Tiraspol’s representative to the negotiation process Vladimir Yastrebcheak said the Transnistrian authorities are trying to convince that recognizing Transnistria’s independence is more convenient event for Europe, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting Novii Region.
The official said he supports the principle of reconciling the parties and is for offering equal statuses to the conflicting sides, but stressed that more consultations are needed on Moldova’s territorial integrity. Tiraspol’s representative presumes that the Moldovan authorities, on their part, do not agree that Transnistria should be treated as an equal side in the negotiation process.
Vladimir Yastrebcheak said he believes the dispute will be solved under the pressure of foreign forces so that the left bank of the Nistru River will be joined to the right bank artificially. “Transnistria chose to be an independent state that will take into account the foreign interests, of the partner countries and guarantor countries, but it will promote its own interests first of all,” he said.
