It was worth staging the April 7, 2009 protests because the people were tired of the Communist administration, but they aren’t satisfied with the current administration either, young people who took part in those events stated for Info-Prim Neo. Most of them want to build their future abroad as they are convinced they will have higher pays there. “Nobody will remain in Moldova. Many went abroad and I will also go. Eleven of my 16 friends are abroad. Another two go in several days. I will leave in summer,” said Sergiu Buhaniuc. He related that he went to the Great National Assembly Square on April 7 as he wanted to join the crowd and demand freedom. He was then subject to mistreatment in police commissariats. “I went through everything you heard about April 7,” he stated. Sergiu Buhaniuc said the Alliance for European Integration sticks only to ambitions and interests. “The alliance probably does something, but the people do not feel. Anyway, many will leave Moldova. How can we start a family here? How can we buy an apartment when we have a salary of 2,000 lei?” he asked. Octavian Rusu studies at the university and works at a gas station in parallel. “The young people believed in a change. Three years have passed, but not much was done for the young people. We wanted jobs, better salaries, higher scholarships and education of a better quality. But nothing changed. There is bureaucracy, corruption and oligarchy. Those who are to blame are not held accountable,” he said. He also said that he has taken medicines for three years. “My life hasn’t changed significantly after April 7. I receive no assistance from the state, even if I was beaten. I study, work and pay the tuition fees. Our administration does not think about us. They have their own principles and nobody makes concessions. But we staged protests for them,” stated Octavian Rusu. “We wanted the Communists to be removed and thus mounted protests, demanding a new government. It is three years since then, but I cannot say that things go in the right direction,” said Victor Bulgar, a participant in the April 7 events. Victor said that he wants a safe, European future, a well-paid job, a healthy family and a prosperous country. “We, the young people, took to the streets because we wanted to live better. But the AEI does not want the people to live better. They do nothing for the young people. We want changes, reforms and a better life,” he stated. Alexandru Bagrin said he had the same aspirations when he went to the central square of Chisinau on April 7, 2009. The young people fulfilled their duty. “We thought we contributed to establishing democracy. We were beaten and humiliated, but they do not care. The young persons go abroad and I will go too,” he said. Thousands of young people took part in the protests against the election results staged on April 7, 2009. Hundreds of them were maltreated, beaten and humiliated in police commissariats. The authorities have not yet announced who is to blame for the devastation of public buildings and the maltreatment in police stations.
