The employees of the Chisinau City Hall, district head’s offices and municipal subdivisions express their concern about the placing of mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca under house arrest and warn about the possible consequences, IPN reports.
According to an informative note of the City Hall, the municipal administration is paralyzed, while the placing of mayor Dorin Chirtoaca under house arrest affects the provision of public services, the rights of the employees of the City Hall, district head’s offices, municipal subdivisions and preschool and pre-university education institutions. The given situation makes the payment of salaries to thousands of employees impossible and limits their right to benefit from leave.
The note also says that the arrest of the mayor blocks the repair of Stefan cel Mare Blvd, the implementation of the project to thermally insulate the buildings of public institutions and apartment buildings, creates difficulties in organizing of children’s vacation and prevents the execution of works to maintain road infrastructure and access ways.
The appointment of a new person as mayor on an interim basis is a difficult procedure that is not sufficiently regulated by the current legislation. The law enforcement bodies are asked to annul the house arrest for Dorin Chirtoac and to investigate this outside remand so as to ensure the functionality of the municipal administration.
