Businesswoman Eugenia Duca in a news conference said it is Vladimir Voronin's former presidential adviser Segiu Mocanu who resorted to blackmail and traffic of influence in order to deprive her of property, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Sergiu Mocanu wants to appear an honest man, but in fact he used racketeering, blackmail and traffic of influence in order to jail me and take my property,” Eugenia Duca said, adding the anti-mafia campaign launched by Sergiu Mocanu looks more like settling of accounts and well though out pre-electoral scandal. “Mocanu knows these illegal schemes very well. He is now making effort to obtain a new, even small political seat.” Eugenia Duca said on March 3, 2009 the European Court of Human Rights ruled in her favor, but she has not yet managed to get her company back. She considers the Government continues to sabotage the ECHR's decision, while the Ministry of the Interior and the Prosecutor's Office do nothing to solve this case. The businesswoman said that in 2001, Sergiu Mocanu, helped by the Communist heavyweight Vadim Misin, started a campaign to deprive her of property. According to her, 72 criminal and civil cases have been opened against her during the last few years. She was the target of a murder attempt, her grandson was kidnapped and she served half a year in jail. “The danger of the Communists returning to power is great. The sterile fight against the mafia is an electoral trick. The PCRM entered the election campaign with advantages, while the parties of the Alliance for European Integration are discredited and accused,” Duca said.
