Ruxanda Glavan, of the parliamentary platform “For Moldova”, said that even if it is January 6, there is no information as to when the first COVID-19 vaccines get to the country, from what producer, how much they will cost and what categories of people will be vaccinated the first. According to the MP, the President’s assertion that the country is not ready to start the vaccination campaign is reprovable and the senior administration should come up with initiatives and measures, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, the MP said the elections ended almost two months ago, but some of the politicians continue to believe that they are in an election campaign and avoid assuming responsibilities. “I refer to the statements made by the President who, instead of using the available instruments, especially in the field of foreign policy, chooses to shift the blame only someone else,” stated Glavan.

Recently, President Maia Sandu in a TV program said the national health system is not ready to start the vaccination campaign. The MP, was served as minister of health earlier, contradicted her, saying there are human and logistic resources for initiating a new vaccination campaign even if a swift assessment of the situation concerning vaccination against COVID-19 is needed.

Ruxanda Glavan noted that there is no clarity as to the type and amount of shots and the time the vaccine will come. The authorities should determine which vaccines will be received the first and how much money is needed to ensure the storage and transportation conditions and also the categories of persons who will be given priority in vaccination. The MP considers the healthcare workers should be immunized the first.

Representatives of the presidential administration said they will come later with a reaction to MP Ruxanda Glavan’s statements.
