Political analyst Igor Botan considers the idea that the situation in Moldova will change if the Constitution is amended is an illusion. “The current Constitution of Moldova is good and there should be changed something else,” the analyst said in the program “Fabrica” on Publika TV, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. ”The present Constitution can serve for many years on. The problem does not reside in it. Something else must be changed. The political parties should receive money from the state proportionally to the number of gained seats. This way the oligarchs may be removed from power. We will not have democracy until the political parties become authentic institutions. I want the Prime Minister to be a very good manager and a very good diplomat who will have support in Parliament,” said Igor Botan. The analyst considers that the best government form for Moldova is the parliamentary republic, not the presidential one. “We had an authoritarian regime and the problem does not reside in the Constitution as Voronin managed to become authoritarian in a parliamentary republic. The Communist Party knew how to exploit the nostalgia for the old regime. There are no perfect regimes. The people learn to influence the politicians for whom they vote over time,” Igor Botan said. The political analyst believes that the Government of Moldova is now under parliamentary control as the legislative body checks how the money is spent, while the head of state has extra powers. In such conditions, the parliamentary republic allows avoiding the establishment of dictatorial regimes.
