Social security is a priority for the Cabinet, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said in a meeting with the President of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Joachim Breuer. The dialogue centered on the social reforms promoted by the Government of Moldova, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the executive.
“The people assess the activity of the executive through the agency of social benefits. Thus, we launched a series of reforms, including reforms aimed at supporting the business community. We are a pro-business Government because we want to make social investments,” stated Pavel Filip.
The Premier noted that the reform of the pension system launched at the end of 2016 ensured social equity among the people and eliminated the deficiencies existing in the old system. ”We have many plans for the future, including concerning the social sphere. We continue to count on the technical expertise and consultancy provided by the ISSA,” he said.
For his part, the ISSA President assured that they will assist the Moldovan authorities in doing social reforms. “It is very important for the business community and social sphere to complement each other. Social justice should be regarded as an investment,” stated Joachim Breuer.
In the meeting, the officials also exchanged opinions on the importance of reforming the system for determining disability, the National Employment Agency and the health system.
Founded in 1927, the International Social Security Association brings together more than 320 members from over 150 countries. The key objective of the ISSA is to promote and develop social security worldwide.
