Prime Minister Vlad Filat discussed the possibility of abolishing the visas for Moldovan travelers to Israel and of increasing the quota of builders in this country in a meeting with Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman on May 14, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government. Vlad Filat said Moldova showed its openness to Israel by liberalizing the visa regime for Israeli travelers in June 2010. Thus, they no longer need to apply for entry visas for Moldova. The Premier stressed they hope the Israeli authorities will take a similar decision and will open talks on an agreement to abolish the visas for Moldovans. He approved of Israel’s decision to issue the Moldovan travelers with visas free of charge. The two officials also considered the possibility of increasing the quota of Moldovan builders in Israel and the signing of an agreement on social security. Vlad Filat appreciated Israel’s readiness to implement in Moldova a trilateral project involving also Romania to build a Center for the Certification of Agroindustrial Products according to the European standards, which will contribute to the promotion of Moldova’s exports. He thanked Avigdor Liberman, who is a native of Chisinau, for his constant support for strengthening the Moldovan-Israeli cooperation. For his part, Avigdor Liberman said that he will continue to support Moldova’s development and will return to Moldova every time he will have the occasion with great pleasure. In the meeting, the two officials signed an agreement of cooperation in the field of environment between Moldova and Israel. Vlad Filat is paying an official visit to Israel on May 14-16, at the invitation of his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu.
