The inspections at kvass selling units in Chisinau revealed a number of irregularities. The sellers do not issue sales slips and do not have a register of complaints, IPN reports, quoting the Consumer Protection Agency.
The Agency, in concert with representatives of the Public Health Center, the State Tax Inspectorate and the Police Division, carried out raids in the districts Ciocana, Botanica and Centru. Besides the mentioned irregularities, it was established that the address and phone numbers of the consumer protection authorities weren’t posted in sight and the units had no appropriate, authorized and metrologically checked measuring devices.
There were taken samples of kvass “Domnesc” and “Cvas din paine” (“Kvass from bread”) in order to determine their quality. The results will be made public later.
Consumers are urged to purchase kvass only in authorized places and in single-use containers. The certificates, which can be requested from sellers, must indicate the use-by date of the product, confirmed by the stamp of the municipal service. It is not safe to drink kvass that is older than two days.
