The people in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia want early elections and the replacement of the political class in Chisinau, the Governor of Gagauzia Irina Vlah said in the program “Interpol” on TV7 channel, IPN reports.

“The people of Gagauzia, as the other inhabitants of the country, want the political chaos in Moldova to be brought to an end. For the purpose, we need early legislative elections that would lead to the replacement of the political class. The Gagauz people want to live better. Therefore, we want changes,” she stated.

The Governor noted that the residents of Gagauzia support the protest movement in Chisinau. “The people of Gagauzia support the protests mounted in Chisinau. If I was an ordinary citizen, I would take to the streets to. The government of Moldova forgot about the Gagauz people. Our people cope how they can. Our problems are not addressed by the central authorities. We have to take decisions by ourselves,” said Irina Vlah.

She criticized the way in which the procedure for swearing in the new Cabinet was organized. “I was celebrating the town day together with my relatives when I was phoned by Gheorghe Duca, who told me that the Cabinet was to be sworn in. I went to Chisinau immediately. I could not enter the Parliament Building, while in the Government Building there was no one. Monica Babuc told me over the phone that the ceremony would take place at 7pm, while Vlad Turcanu told me that it would be held the next day. I was at home when the Cabinet was sworn in,” said Irina Vlah.

The Government headed by Pavel Filip was sworn in at a closed and secret ceremony on January 20, close to the midnight. The event involved all the members of the Government, except for the president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova Gheorghe Duca and the Governor of Gagauzia Irina Vlah. The two were sworn in at a separate ceremony in two days.
