Irina Rîngaci became the first wrestler in Moldova who became world champion. In the final of the 65 kg weight class, Andrei Chiperi’s pupil beat Japan’s Miwa Morikawa, IPN reports.
In Oslo, Irina Rîngaci also defeated Germany’s Eyleen Sewina, Sweden’s Malin Mattsson and Mimi Hristova of Bulgaria. Earlier this year, she also won the title of European champion.
Another Moldovan wrestler, Iulia Leorda, became world vice champion. In the final of the 53 kg class, she lost to Akari Fujinami of Japan. Earlier, Iulia won against Assylzat Sagymbay of Kazakhstan, Samantha Leigh Stewarr of Canada and Khrystyna Bereza of Ukraine.
