Experts of the European Institute for Politics and Reforms (IPRE) propose drafting a new bill that will develop the work conception and will increase the role of the Supreme Security Council. According to them, given that the Council works based on regulations formulated 18 years ago, the new law should be built on more efficient organization models, IPN reports.

The IPRE insists that the new law should give the Council deliberative powers that would enable it to issue mandatory decisions, to delimit the powers of different institutions, to actively engage Parliament and to diminish the involvement of the political class.

The IPRE experts say the stability and security of the Republic of Moldova were endangered by the latest developments in the country. Now the security does not include the military component only. There are also such elements as economic, energy, social and information security. In the current conditions, ‘something’ or ‘someone’ is needed to promptly and objectively react to crisis situations and in circumstances that threaten state security.
