IPN on February 5 published an OP-ED article entitled “European integration, import of EU legislation and practical solutions for shaping benefits” that was written by political pundit Dionis Cenusa. The author said the malfunctions in Moldova can be removed not just by “Europeanizing” the national legal framework, but also by extracting benefits for the public at the stage of implementing this. Romania continues to support the raising of the partnership relationship between NATO and the Republic of Moldova to a new stage and welcomes the opening of the NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau, Minister of National Defense of Romania Mihai Fifor stated after a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Eugeniu Sturza in Chisinau. The official added that Romania is and will continue to be a fervent supporter of the European and Euro-Atlantic course of the Republic of Moldova as Moldova is for Romania a strategic partner, not only a neighboring country. “These are fully erroneous and disproportionate,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Teodor Melescanu stated, commenting on Moldovan President Igor Dodon’s assertions that the unionist statements adopted by mayor’s offices in Moldova mean civil war. In connection with the promotion of the European agenda, Minister Melescanu assured his Moldovan counterpart Tudor Ulianovschi that Romania will continue to cooperate with its European partners, especially France, in organizing the upcoming meeting of the Group for the European Action of the Republic of Moldova. The European Union will allocate €4.5 million for strengthening the integrated management of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, in particular the Cuchurgan-Pervomaisc and Giurgiulesti-Reni checkpoints. The project, with a total budget of €4.7 million, will be implemented under the auspices of the International Organization for Migration, in cooperation with the EUBAM. Read more…

The Republic of Moldova is no longer visited by foreign officials of the highest ranks because these do not have what to support and who to meet with here, Alexei Tulbure, Moldova’s ex-representative to the UN and the Council of Europe, stated in a TV program.  According to him, the visits paid to Moldova by the Federal Chancellor of Germany, the Vice President of the U.S. and chiefs of the European Union were powerfully symbolical and showed political support for what was happening in Moldova. The Government approved the replacement of the Visa Subsystem with the Visa Management Information System for use by embassies and consular offices. According to Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi, a series of amendments were made to the regulations concerning the issuing of visas in order to adjust the national legislation to the European one. The leader of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said Article 13 of the Constitution should remain unchanged because the constitutional package, following the judgment passed by the Constitutional Court, contains the phrase “Romanian language” and the European approach “Unity through diversity” can be thus ensured. According to the Democratic MP, the non-modification of Article 13 would mean ensuring of respect for any citizen of the country and their right to ethnical, cultural and linguistic self-determination. The Public Services Agency will issue new-type vehicle registration certificates as of March 1 - VP2017. From February 26, it will issue temporary registration certificates of the new model.
