IPN on April 23 published an OP-ED article entitled “Foreign multi-vectorialism of President Dodon and post-electoral geopolitical uncertainties” that was written by expert in political sciences Dionis Cenusa. The author noted that Moldova’s rapprochement with the European Union is treated more calmly and steadily by the main pro-Russian forces in Chisinau, first of all by the Head of State. Thus, Igor Dodon’s tone in relation to the EU became more temperate and turned into a clear tendency that was first witnessed in the autumn of 2017. Read more…

Media NGOs consider special attention should be devoted to the further monitoring of the implementation of the Association Agreement’s provisions on environment. If there are incongruities, civil society should notify the authorities, the mass media and the general public of the non-adjustment of the national legislation to the European environmental standards. The president of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) Iurie Leanca said he analyzed the electoral programs for the new local elections of Chisinau and Balti and established that the candidates include persons who could meet the requirements. The Republic of Moldova is interested in learning from the positive experience of Lithuania in doing reforms, Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated in a meeting with the Lithuanian Premier Saulius Skvernelis, who is paying a visit to Moldova during April 26-27. “The Cabinet of Lithuania followed a reform agenda that is similar to our agenda. They did reforms in education, healthcare, pension system, fiscal system and public administration,” stated Pavel Filip. The buildings of two schools and two kindergartens in Cantemir town will be thermally rehabilitated within a project financed by the European Union as part of the EU4Energy initiative.
