The relaunch of the economy is the top priority of the Republic of Moldova. Secretary general of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Ion Terguță, the representative of the candidate for Presider Andrei Năstase, considers the task of increasing the population’s incomes is directly proportional to the relaunch of the economy. “If we don’t manage to do this, we will live only on foreign donations. Europe or the U.S. or someone else cannot endlessly offer us money to ensure a permanent rise in salaries and pensions. We shall understand that we must become self-sufficient and we should do this by a serious government program similar to the one proposed by candidate Andrei Năstase,” stated Ion Terguță.

In the electoral debateWe and the President: who elects who, who represents who?” that was staged by IPN on October 22, Ion Terguță said that namely for this reason the PPPDA didn’t field a candidate who would set objectives only within the limits of his constitutional prerogatives, but proposed a candidate who has a serious country project that would enable Moldova to develop.

According to the party’s secretary general, the country’s European integration is a civilizational necessity that does not have a strictly economic, cultural or political dimension. “We do not have another option. Imagine that there are no technologies that could come from the East or from other parts as we are ten years behind the civilized countries. To make this technological, scientific, cultural jump, we need this flow of intelligence and capital from the EU and the West. Our option is based strictly on the country’s modernization and its integration into the Western economic and security systems,” stated Ion Terguță.

He believes that Moldova has no other more valuable resource than its human resource that is the only important one. “We lost 30 years owing to politicians who disregarded the education system. We have children who expect to take the Baccalaureate exams and leave the Republic of Moldova. Those with grades of 10 are in the West, while those with grades of 9 are in Romania. In the country, we have children who cannot leave anywhere,” he stated, noting that as a journalist he conducted an investigation and determined that those who get grades of 5 or 6 in the Baccalaureate exams become teachers and go to work in schools.

“Andrei Năstase today filed a complaint against the non-President Igor Dodon over treason. He is the only one who dared to go against this man, against this system and the previous system. If we managed the first time, we will also succeed the second time. We know what we have to do in this country. Andrei Năstase has a team behind him and this will help him at any moment. The promises we make are not populist. They were well-planned and can be fulfilled. Vote for Andrei Năstase without any hesitation. Be rational when you elect the future President. Elect a man who can withstand all the storms coming from the East and the West,” was Ion Terguță’s s message to the voters.

The electoral debate “We and the President” who elects who, who represents who?” forms part of the series of public debates held by IPN News Agency in the framework of the project “Developing political culture through public debates” that is supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
