The candidate for Prime Minister Ion Sturza is ready to come to Parliament with a government program and the list of Cabinet members on January 4. The candidate made such a statement in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

Sturza voiced hope that he will gain a vote of confidence in Parliament. “I had discussions with three parties, without insults and accusations. The difficult situation faced by the country was the common denominator. These discussions made me be optimistic. I do not have allies among parties. The public opinion is my main ally, while the argument is my key weapon. I will provide solid arguments when I will seek support in Parliament,” he stated.

Ion Sturza is aware that he can fail to garner the necessary number of votes. “This struggle is a risk. If the attempt fails, it will be a temporary failure. Even Kutuzov conceded Moscow to Napoleon one time. It is a long-term strategy. Now this strategy is reduced to the formation of the government. We will convince the parliamentary parties to vote for us by the power of the argument,” he said.

The candidate denied some politicians’ accusations that his nomination by President Nicolae Timofti forms part of a scenario directed from behind. “There was no scenario. I met with President Timofti two times – the first time earlier and the second time now. I was in Vienna with some friends. I was phoned and invited to come to Chisinau for a discussion with the head of state. I came last Sunday, before being designated. The President spoke to me about the difficult situation in the country and offered me to run for premiership,” he stated.

According to Sturza, now Moldova needs more a National Bank governor than a Premier. “If things stand like this, the light could be turned down,” he warned.

Ion Sturza does not rule out the possibility of early elections, but also of uprisings. “I cannot guarantee that the country after January 29 will not enter a period of turbulence preceding the early elections,” he said.
