If incumbent President Igor Dodon wins one more term in office in autumn, the relationship between him and the former leader of the Democratic Party Vladimir Plahotniuc could return to normality, IPN quoted Moldova’s ex-Premier Ion Sturza as saying in the talk show “Black Box” on TV8 channel.

As to Vladimir Plahotniuc’s expulsion from the U.S. and his extradition to Moldova, Ion Sturza said this can happen only when the Prosecutor General’s Office furnishes the United States with incontestable evidence, not only with information.

“There are specialized lawyers who defend dictators, corrupt persons and so on. The problem is not in Washington, but in Chisinau. A credible file needs to be compiled in Chisinau. If they send files based on information, not on evidence, as we like to do in Chisinau, it won’t do in the U.S. Serious terrorists, swindlers were released there for the simple reason that the judge didn’t accept the information. They need evidence,” stated Ion Sturza.

According to him, Vlad Plahotniuc will be extradited to Moldova when solid arguments formulated in accordance with the international legislation and the U.S. law are provided. Until these proofs are not conclusive and are not based on evidence, his extradition will be problematic.

“We expect that the Americans will ultimately expel Vlad Plahotniuc from the United States. But he can go to any country where he is accepted,” noted the former Premier.

Ion Sturza said the fact that he remained isolated and without activities is the biggest problem of businessman Vlad Plahotniuc. “He stays there without great activities, in a state of uncertainty for him, and sleeps two hours a night. It is known that he has health problems that allow him to sleep only two hours a night. You can imagine that he needs to work. He permanently needs intrigues, discussions, involvement. I think being isolated in a paradise is the most serious problem for him,” he noted.
