The Ștefan cel Mare Public Garden in Chisinau needs revitalization, says Ion Ștefăniță, the candidate of the Respect Moldova Movement Party. He proposes a design that restores the original planimetry of the park as it was in 19th century.
Ion Ștefăniță claims that, when he was head of the Agency for Inspection and Restoration of Monuments, he proposed a project to revitalize this landmark, but “politicians” rejected it.
Then he initiated discussions with a group of landscape architects from Chisinau who helped him develop a concept that would restore the historical planimetry of the public garden, as it was in the 19th century. “Some alleys that were built during the Soviet period should be liquidated. We need to restore this spirit of the place through vegetation, rehabilitation, arrangement”, said the candidate.
He states that this project can become a reality, obtaining allocations from the municipal budget, and the Ștefan cel Mare Public Garden can become comfortable and friendlier to Chisinau residents and guests of the city.
Ion Ștefăniță is running for Chișinău mayor on behalf of the Respect Moldova Movement Party, founded by the former Democratic lawmaker Eugeniu Nichiforciuc.
