The reform-seeking Liberal lawmakers will not back a candidate for Head of Parliament proposed by the Communist faction, Ion Hadarca told the journalists. According to the MP, they will vote for the candidate who will provide guarantees that a new, right-wing coalition will be formed, IPN reports.
The Liberal said the fact that the May 2 sitting of Parliament was postponed at the request of the Communist faction shows that the Communists are looking for additional guarantees for certain legislative changes that are to be voted. “There are probably certain agreements about which we don’t know. I cannot comment and speculate about these negotiations that were probably held in our absence,” stated Ion Hadarca. He suggested yet that the agreements may concern amendments to the Election Code and the decision regarding the appointment of the prosecutor general.
The May 2 sitting of Parliament was put off until May 3 at the request of the leader of the PCRM. Vladimir Voronin said they needed time to consider a candidate for the post of Speaker.
