Ion Dosca wins on first day of Baltic Open Draughts-64 Championship

International Grandmaster Ion Dosca, a multiple champion of the Republic of Moldova, world champion, champion of the former USSR and USA, medaled on the first day of the Baltic Open Draughts-64 Championship. He won silver, ranking second out of 32 contestants in the “quick” tournament, IPN reports.

Alexander Schwartsman, a multiple world champion representing Israel, won gold. The bronze medal went to Alexei Domchev, a champion of Lithuania, ex-European champion. Estonia’s champion Aarno Uutma, a world champion, finished fifth.

In the first round of the “classic” tournament, Ion Dosca defeated Estonia’s Indrek Meaggi.

The Baltic Open Draughts-64 Championship 2024 is taking place in Kuremaa, Estonia, starting June 25, 2024.
