Grand International Master Ion Dosca emerged victorious in the classical program of the World Draughts Championship among veterans, winning gold and the title of World Champion. This is his fourth title of world champion in addition to his three titles of European champion.
Ion Dosca’s wife and coach Elena Tkachenko won the similar women’s competition, becoming double world champion among women.
The competition was held in Kranevo, Bulgaria.
Ion Dosca is considered the best Moldovan draughts player. He won the USSR Cup (1980 and 1990), is a Soviet Union champion, the Russian variant (1991), an awardee of the World Championship, universal version, and a world champion (1999), universal version, a champion of the U.S., pool-checkers variant (2000) and 18 times champion of Moldova.
