Another 102 infections with the novel coronavirus were detected in Moldova on April 12. These are all local transmission cases and most of them were recorded in Chisinau, the Transnistrian region and Glodeni. Prime Minister Ion Chicu said Moldova is at the stage of stabilizing the spread of the virus, IPN reports.
“It is the eighth day when the number of newly confirmed cases is below the anti-record of last Saturday. We have 102 cases. We consider we are at the stage of stabilizing the evolution of this virus in the Republic of Moldova. This period of eight days is sufficient for having such a hope and drawing such conclusions,” Premier Chicu stated in a press briefing.
He noted this does not yet mean that the special regime should be eased. This shows that the measures taken by the authorities produce results.
The official said that no new case was reported today in Soroca town, which was placed in quarantine. Also, no infections were recorded in 15 districts. This is a confirmation of the fact that the people obey the regime.
The infections with COVID-19 in Moldova came to 1,662. Of those infected, 94 recovered, while 31 died.
