Prime Minister Ion Chicu proposes the opening of two more joint control points at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border on the Transnistrian segment. The proposal was made at a bilateral meeting with the Ukrainian prime minister, Oleksiy Honcharuk, on the sidelines of the EaP Investment Summit, organized by the EBRD in London, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the Government, during the discussions, Ion Chicu underlined the openness to strengthen the partnership relations with the neighboring country in various fields, such as: regional security, ecological protection of the Dniester river basin, the energy sector and the transport sector. "I want to reaffirm our readiness for an open and active intergovernmental dialogue. I am sure that, through joint efforts, we will be able to develop a positive dynamic of our bilateral cooperation”, said Ion Chicu.

In his turn, the Ukrainian prime minister affirmed the importance of activating the mutually advantageous bilateral interaction, confirming the openness of Kiev to promote dynamic dialogue on the matters of common interest. At the same time, the importance of activities within the Moldovan-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission in the field of economic and commercial cooperation was noted.

On the sidelines of the Summit, Ion Chicu also discussed with Suma Chakrabarti, EBRD President. The latter mentioned that "EBRD will continue to invest in major projects aimed at increasing the living standards of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. The Prime Minister thanked for the invitation to participate in the first Investment Summit of the EaP States and expressed interest in the continuous development of the strategic partnership with the EBRD.

The prime minister proposed to start the negotiations for the signing of a new financing agreement for the further implementation of the Road Sector Program as from 2022. He has also mentioned that the Republic of Moldova will appreciate the support for the technical assistance in implementing the restructuring process of the Calea Ferată (Railway) company in Moldova.
