The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said the Socialists during the last few years submitted hundreds of intimations concerning the illegalities committed by the previous administration of the municipality and revealed criminal scheme implemented at municipal level. In the period, he saw yet no proposal, action or initiative for Chisinau from the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” in this regard. Ion Ceban made such statements in debates organized by him to which he invited his opponent Andrei Nastase, but the latter didn’t accept the invitation, IPN reports.
“We made public corruption schemes, starting from parking places and ending with transport, starting from the schemes to embezzle municipal property and ending with those related to influence peddling, and also the schemes to supply products to children in kindergartens, who were poisoned, and to purchase equipment for medical institutions,” noted Ion Ceban, who proposed that the fighting of corruption at municipal level should be the first subject for discussion.
According to Ion Ceban, it is regrettable that an election runner hides and does not come to answer questions about the problems existing in Chisinau municipality. He said he will organize debates tomorrow as well, centering on the illegal constructions in Chisinau and solutions to combat this phenomenon.
Contacted by IPN, Andrei Nastase said he goes to meetings with citizens at the local level and has an arranged agenda that he does not coordinate with Ceban or his superiors Plahotniuc and Dodon.
In the early mayoral elections on May 20, Ion Ceban gained 40.97% of the vote, while Andrei Nastase, of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, – 32.12%. The two will duel in runoffs on June 3.
