The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban promises to execute current and extensive repair works in 15 municipal medical institutions. In his electoral program, the candidate says a list of possible public-private and municipal partnerships for rehabilitating the network of health facilities in the city will be compiled by April 2019, IPN reports.

Another point included in the program is the introduction of an electronic board that will show the line number at the doctor on duty in municipal policlinics and hospitals so as to redistribute the flow of patients and to prevent the appearance of long lines. In 2018, such a program will be implemented in a number of medical institutions. Among other objectives are to equip the municipal health facilities with modern equipment and to ban the sale of areas that belong to urban medical institutions.

Ion Ceban promises to offer support to persons with disabilities and to set up special elevators in administrative buildings, municipal policlinics and hospitals. There will be installed 20 elevators, including at the Chisinau City Hall, and approximately 50 ramps. Another promise is to put up 20 vocal traffic lights on the main arteries of the city and to work out and present a medium-term program for supporting persons with disabilities until November 2018.

Another objective is to increase thrice the number of persons from socially deprived families who would be able to eat at social canteens. The Socialist candidate also aims to raise by 20% the number of persons who benefit from cold-month allowances and compensations for covering a part of the waste collection tariff.

Among the priorities, Ion Ceban noted the substantial extension of home social services, first of all through the agency of mobile groups and personal assistants, and the enlargement of the network of centers and services for the most vulnerable categories of people in Chisinau, primarily pensioners and persons with disabilities. Annual support will be provided from the municipal reserve fund to about 30,000 persons in a difficult financial situation  (lack of income, serious disease, etc.).

Another promise is the introduce the townsperson’s Social Card, which will be a municipal program of discounts and actions that will be implemented in concert with business entities, under private municipal partnerships, in such areas as pharmaceutical products, markets, transport and other spheres.
