The most talented medical students will receive scholarships from the mayor general of Chisinau, the Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor Ion Ceban promised in a news conference on May 7.
The candidate also promised to improve the living conditions in dorms. Ion Ceban said he will make an approach to the legislature and the executive for the young health professionals to be exempted from paying any taxes during the first three years of work. He assured he will make effort to solve the problem of provision of dwellings and decent sales to doctors.
The electoral contender said he will set up a commission that would inventory the medical institutions in Chisinau municipality so as to have a clear picture of the steps that need to be taken to improve the situation at these institutions. “We aim to ensure maximum transparency in this process so that each citizen knows the real needs of each medical institution and can follow how much money, what equipment and furniture were given and when,” stated Ion Ceban.
He also pledged to create a council of doctors that will debate the most serious problems in the health sector. The quality of the medical services and the conditions in which doctors work are direct indicators of the quality of life in any country and in any city.
