The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban wants to transform Chisinau into a city that cares for the people. In a public place on April 13, he presented his team’s strategy for transforming Chisinau. Ion Ceban expressed his conviction that shortly after he takes over as a mayor, he will be able to speak about concrete results, IPN reports.
Ion Ceban promised that 150 playgrounds and 150 sports grounds in yards of apartment buildings will be made available by the end of his term if he is chosen mayor. Also, 180 kindergartens will be repaired partially or extensively. The candidate said from the very first day of his mayoralty, he will impose strict control on the enrolment to kindergartens so that each child has a place at the local nursery school.
The Socialist candidate’s team promises to rehabilitate about 90 schools. It will work out the municipal program “Student’s electronic card”. The talented children will receive special municipal assistance, such as prizes and scholarships, within the program “Young people are our future”. Based on agreements with local and foreign partners, the schools will be supplied with modern equipment.
Ion Ceban said that to support the young families with low incomes, the municipality will offer additional allowances at the birth of the first child and other kinds of assistance during the first year of life of the child. There will be launched the programs “My house” and “Accessible dwelling” to provide plots for construction in preferential conditions, especially outside the city.
The candidate also said he will install special elevators in public buildings for persons with reduced mobility and also sonorous traffic lights. Another promise is to increase the number of persons who benefit from cold-month allowances and other welfare by 20%. There will be launched the City Resident’s Social Card that will offer discounts on pharmaceutical products, transport and other services.
As to the medical system, Ion Ceban said the medical institutions based in the municipality will be repaired partially or extensively and the sale of the plots that belong to these will be banned. The Socialists aim to put into operation electronic billboards with the number of order at the doctor on guard in policlinics and hospitals.
Ion Ceban is the sixth on the list of candidates on the ballot.
