The Party of Socialists’ candidate for Chisinau mayoralty Ion Ceban said that 4.5 billion lei is needed to implement his electoral program, but the municipal budget is now of 3.8 billion lei. He promises he will find money for covering the difference, IPN reports.
“We lack about 600 million lei for implementing this program. We speak about the budgetary year than ends in December 2018 and about half of year of the budgetary year 2019, when the mayoralty ends. I will find this money and will put my program into practice,” the candidate stated in the program “Politics of Natalia Morari” on TV8 channel.
Ion Ceban noted that the 600 million lei can be identified by properly managing the amounts collected as taxes and by introducing electronic procurement procedures.
As to his promise to return property to the value of 6 billion lei that was stolen in time and make it again municipal property, the Socialist candidate said all the goods should be inventoried. “It is possible to make them again municipal property if we prove in court it is such property,” stated the politician.
Ion Ceban said the legal system, including the Prosecutor General’s Office and the National Anticorruption Center, is not independent, but the Party of Socialists will take over in autumn as a result of the parliamentary elections and will be able to deliver its promises.
The June 3 mayoral runoffs in Chisinau will involve Ion Ceban and the candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase.
