The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) took two steps backward when it renounced the candidacy of Maia Sandu and nominated Valeriu Strelet for premiership, deputy chairman of the Party of Socialists Ion Ceban said in the program “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.

“Maia Sandu was the only minister who did something, but some of her deeds we didn’t support. The PLDM fielded her in order to regain credibility before the foreign partners. In reality, nobody from the alliance wanted Maia Sandu because all the three leaders are involved in dirty businesses and Maia Sandu would have hampered them,” stated Ion Ceban.

He considers that the new Government is uglier than the previous one. “Valeriu Strelert is a blackmailable person and this is very bad for a Premier. “I know Strelet. He now says one thing and then does another thing when he receives instructions over the phone from his party chief. The Ministry of Education is headed by a former TV presenter who does not have the managerial skills of Maia Sandu. The Ministry of Defense is managed by Anatol Salaru, who caused disaster at the Mimicry of Transport and is far from the military field,” he stated.

Ceban noted that the PLDM shouldn’t have made concessions as to the candidate for premiership. “The PLDM could have overcome the situation nicely – he should have told his alliance partners that they either vote for Maia Sandu or prepare for early elections. The PLDM would have gained credibility and improved its image. It’s clear that the Democratic Party had the last word in the so-called negotiations, while the Liberal Party helped it,” he said.
