The National Alternative Movement (MAN) will support the October 20 referendum on amending the Constitution, the party’s leader Ion Ceban announced in the talk show “Resumé” on RliveTV channel. According to him, the party will register with the CEC as an election contestant and will promote this exercise. The party has not yet decided who it will support in the presidential election, but is analyzing the electoral platforms of all the candidates for the office of President, IPN reports.

Ion Ceban noted that the party will submit the documents to the CEC in order to register as a contestant in the referendum and will promote the European integration and support the introduction of the European course in the Constitution. Ion Ceban stressed the importance of the participation of every citizen with the right to vote in this electoral exercise.

“As early as last December, when the idea was circulated for the first time, we said that we would support this referendum. It is very important to ensure maximum mobilization in this regard. The National Alternative Movement, probably, is the only political entity that in its statutory documents, in its political program wrote that the idea of European integration must become a national one. That’s why it is important for everyone to mobilize in this regard. We will carry out an information campaign, we will register as a participant and we will explain to the people what the organization of this referendum and its results entails,” stated the MAN leader Ion Ceban.

He explained that his party has not yet made a decision whether or not it will support a candidate for the office of President of the Republic of Moldova. He has discussions with all potential candidates for President and examines all electoral programs.

“As regards the support for a candidate, this can only be discussed within the party. The subject has not yet been debated with my colleagues because we still do not know exactly who will be registered as candidates. We will analyze all the programs and, when we have a decision, we will announce it publicly. During this period, we talked to the candidates who became involved in the race and are expected to be registered. I don’t want to go into details, but I had discussions with practically everyone,” explained the MAN chairman.

According to the Central Election Commission, four political parties were registered as election contestants for the referendum. Under the electoral legislation, political parties and electoral blocs can submit the application for registration as a participant in the referendum until September 20, 2024.
