The Socialist candidate for the mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, says that the accusations made by his counter-candidate from the ACUM bloc, Andrei Năstase, are absolutely unfounded and he has to sue him again. Ion Ceban says that he has already won a lawsuit against Andrei Năstase and now he has to sue him for other allegations made in public.
“These aren’t mutual attacks, there are accusations in one direction, which are actually unsubstantiated. There is already one judgment and I have to press charges for other allegations. There will be a larger amount this time, not just some pennies as in the first lawsuit. Such unprincipled behavior is not to be tolerated,” said Ion Ceban in a special edition on NTV Moldova. The Socialist candidate says that ACUM and PSRM have signed a non-aggression agreement and he fully complies with this agreement.
Ion Ceban says he chose another strategy to run his campaign as mayor unlike his counter-candidate and mentioned that he focused exclusively on the problems Chisinau is facing.
The Socialist candidate argues that Chisinau needs a comprehensive approach to the problems it faces, and for a quick fix it needs an absolute majority in the Chisinau Municipal Council. Also, Ion Ceban defines Andrei Nastase's position as electoral trickery, for Nastase is reluctant to accept a majority with the Socialists in the CMC. Ion Ceban believes the representatives of ACUM bloc will have no choice but collaborate with the Socialists for a better functioning of the local public administration.
On Sunday, November 3, Ion Ceban and Andrei Năstase will face off in the second round of the mayoral election in Chisinau.
