The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban congratulated his opponent Andrei Nastase, the leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, on the victory in the new local mayoral elections and wished him success in his mayoralty. Ion Ceban said he will remain to serve on the Chisinau Municipal Council and is ready to support projects that are in the people’s interests, IPN reports.
In a press briefing after the preliminary results were made public, Ion Ceban thanked the people who voted for him and his colleagues and family.
Ion Ceban admitted that he could take part in the general ordinary mayoral elections in a year.
With over 99% of the votes counted, the results showed Andrei Nastase a winner with 52.5% of the vote.
