The owner of the shopping center UNIC intends to invest over 250 million lei in the store’s infrastructure at the next stage, after having invested 180 million lei by now. It is planned to build a square near the store and an underground parking lot.

Vitalie Malachi, a member of the Administration Board, in a press briefing at IPN said the shopping center started to be reconstructed in 2019 with the construction of the parking place on Ismail St, where all the flower kiosks were taken away and the square was revamped, with the store’s façade being refurbished. The façade is to be renovated in two stages. The first stage included the works executed until now, while the second stage will be implemented during the next three-four years.

When works on the façade are over, a parking lot under the square will be set up. This will enable to create 150 more parking places and to develop an underground parking lot behind the store. The square will be built according to the European standards.  It will be greened and will include a fountain and rest areas.

The director general of the shopping center UNIC Leonid Sidorov said the new investments will go to enhance comfort and to revamp the place so that this becomes the most beautiful rest and recreational area in the municipality of Chisinau, intended for the citizens and guests of the capital city.

Together with the completion of the first stage to modernize the shopping center that cost 180 million lei, the number of business entities that rent commercial areas at the shopping center increased and the taxes paid to the state will further rise. A number of 327 companies now rent areas in the center and each of these creates jobs and contributes to supplementing the state budget by the taxes they pay.

The director mentioned the brands ENTER, PROMSTORE, McDonald’s, Meli Melo, Nica-Vizaje, Papirus, Moon Glow, MySkin, Cristina, Alina Bradu, Vitalie Burlacu, MAIB, Fincombank. “At the current stage, we can announce the intentions to join in of five famous brands. There will be opened the first KOTON shop in the Republic of Moldova,” stated Leonid Sidorov, assuring that the shopping center UNIC will now focus on the attraction of new brands, increase of its socioeconomic role and modernization of infrastructure.
