Investments in FEZ Balti rose to US$ 161.8m in eight years

The investments made in the Free Economic Zone (FEZ) Balti during eight years of its foundation rose from US$ 6.7 million to US $ 161.8 million. The 55 resident companies created over 6,000 jobs with an average salary of 11,600 lei. Prime Minister Pavel Filip made a visit to the new plants opened at FEZ Balti on March 23, IPN has learned from the Government’s press service.

The Premier visited first the new hall of the second Draexlmaier automotive cables plant that was opened at the end of 2017. The implementation of the investment project to the value of about €35 de enabled to employ 1,000 persons and the figure is to be doubled by this yearend. The company also intends to build a new plant in Cahul town.

Pavel Filip also visited the second, recently opened cables and wires factory of the Austrian company Gebauer & Griller. The investments in the new plant exceeded €20 million and about 600 new jobs were created as a result.

“There is nothing more important than offering the companies the possibility of increasing their investments,” stated the Premier.

Also, Pavel Filip visited the building site of an industrial hall that is 4.475 square meters in area. This is constructed at a cost of €5 million in national investments and is to be finished in August.

FEZ Balti manages 11 subzones located in the three regions of the Republic of Moldova. The resident companies enjoy a number of fiscal and customs concessions.
