Internet service providers report highest turnover in last five years

The fixed point wireless Internet services last year increased in volume by 34.7% from a year before. This is the highest turnover posted by the Internet service providers in the last five years, shows a report by the national information and communication technology regulator. Moldtelecom, Starnet and Orange reported the highest rises in sales. The sales increased following the rise in the number of subscribers and the diversification of service providers' offers. The number of subscribers to fixed point wireless Internet services in 2009 grew by 30.6% from 2008, to broadband Internet services rose by 62.4%, while to dial-up Internet services fell two times. ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) continues to be the most popular broadband communications technology.
