The International Workers’ Day or the Day of Working People’s Solidarity is celebrated in the Republic of Moldova on May 1. This is a day off for public sector employees, IPN reports.

“On May 1, we celebrate the International Day of Working People’s Solidarity. In this way, we thank every person who works, regardless of the field, all those who do their job honestly. No matter what area we represent, by working every day we will build European Moldova – a modern state capable of taking care of every citizen,” said the Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă.

“I wish you all the satisfaction of a well-done job. I express special gratitude to those who on May 1, regardless of their profession, will be on duty, even if the rest of us will enjoy this day off,” he stated.

During the previous years, the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova and also political parties organized marches or rallies on May 1. No thematic activities have been announced for this year so far.
