The International Organization for Economic Development that is present in 247 countries inaugurated a representative office in Moldova. The leader of “Moldova Mea” Association Fiodor Ghelici was named the official representative of the organization that will finance socioeconomic projects, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on October 22, Fiodor Ghelici said the organization will provide financing for social programs, infrastructure and development projects within private businesses as well as projects centering on natural disasters.
When the representative office starts work in Moldova, Ghelici will have meetings with Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the presidential adviser on economic matters and with town mayors and district heads to discuss socioeconomic projects that are necessary in Moldova.
Fiodor Ghelici stated that the financing of projects will be highly transparent. He said that as an official representative of the International Organization for Economic Development he will not be able to become involved in politics and to make political statements.
Deputy representative Igor Caldare said the organization aims to contribute to the efficient and sustainable development of economic and social policies by offering technical expertise and financial resources. “The ideology of the organization is based on the idea that the gap between the quality of life in the developed countries and the developing countries should be narrowed. The organization’s objectives are to ensure the economic development of the sovereign states through investments and to improve the living standards of the socially deprived groups,” he stated.
The countries that form part of the International Organization for Economic Development form a number of groups, Moldova being in the same group as Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
