The International Film Tournament on Human Rights arrived in Moldova for the first time with the broadcast of Swiss film "Those Who Work" in Chisinau and Soroca. At a press conference organized on October 23, Virgiliu Mărgineanu, the director of OWH Studio, has stated that the film has many messages that the inhabitants of the Republic of Moldova are also facing, reports IPN.

"The film also addresses the issue of migration, human rights issue as regards work, the family issue, the relationship between husband and wife and the relations between friends. It is very appropriate to watch this film and to ask ourselves questions afterwards," stated Virgiliu Mărgineanu.

Present at the press conference, Victoria Nagy Vajga, State Secretary within the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, mentioned that in the Republic of Moldova human rights must be discussed as often as possible. "Movies reflect aspects of everyday life. In the case of this film, it reflects the situation in Switzerland which, under the conditions of globalization, is identical to the situation in other countries, including Moldova,” said Victoria Nagy Vajga.

The official reiterated that without the support of external partners it would have been very difficult to promote cultural events showing a lifestyle. "Cultural events enrich our life and that is why I hope that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova will benefit from as many such high-quality events as possible," stressed the Secretary of State.

Caroline Tissot, director of the Swiss Cooperation Office, has said that since 2017 the movie "Those Who Work" has been broadcast throughout the world in 45 countries. "In fact, this tournament started in 2017, after 70 years since the signing of the Declaration for Human Rights," said Caroline Tissot, who has also stated that fiction and film represent a very good environment to generate reflections on human rights.

The event is organized within the framework of 2019 International Human Rights Film Tournament, a project of the International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, with the support of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and Canton of Geneva.
