The R. of Moldova should consider in the most serious manner its potential membership of Euro-Atlantic structures and the European Union, because it is very important that such countries as the R. of Moldova join them and benefit from the advantages offered by the membership. The statement belongs to director of the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) Roman Kuzniar, made at an international conference “Transition in Moldova - From Reforms to Effective Transformations”, taking place on November 24-25 in Chisinau. As part of his inauguration speech at the conference, deputy minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Valeriu Ostalep, emphasized upon the certitude that the R. of Moldova is still far from becoming an EU member-country, and this is the reason why it needs “an efficient mechanism of promoting reforms”. Several participants as Olga Algazerova, state secretary under the Ministry of Foreign Affaires of Slovakia; Leszek Jesien, state secretary in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland, Jaroslav Neverovic, deputy minister of Foreign Affaires of Poland, confirmed the support for Moldova’s plans concerning its alignment with the European values and underlined that the EU is monitoring the statements and actions of the authorities from Chisinau in these respects. Numerous participants from Lithuania, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany and officials from the R. of Moldova intend to analyze, during 2 working days of the round table, issues like applying the transition process experience of Central European states in the case of the R. of Moldova, integration into Transatlantic structures as model of strategic approach of RM interests, the necessity for a communication and information strategy for European integration and others. The conference is organized by the Polish Institute of International Affairs, Warsaw, and the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives “Viitorul”, Chisinau.
