Approximately 45 countries and institutions – international donors – come together in Paris on Monday to discuss and decide the support for the Republic of Moldova that is affected by the war in Ukraine, IPN reports.

The third ministerial conference of the Moldova Support Platform is co-chaired by Germany and Romania, together with the host country. French President Emmanuel Macron and Moldovan President Maia Sandu will address the conference’s closing session.

The first two ministerial conferences held in April and July in Berlin and Bucharest raised a
total of €600 million in donation pledges and contributions. The next donors’ conference will take place next year in Chisinau.

The foreign press reported that the visit to Paris by the German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is paid amid recent tensions in the bilateral relations with France. In mid-October, France and Germany cancelled a joint cabinet meeting on the eve of an EU summit at which the energy crisis was top of the agenda. French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne is to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Tuesday in Berlin.
