The Theoretical Lyceum “Hyperion” based in Durlesti town staged the International Day of Peace. The event was staged in concert with the Farmers Federation for Peace in the World, the branch in Moldova, and involved a delegation from Japan and South Korea.
The event, organized on the occasion of the World Peace Day, was aimed at educating the young generation in the spirit of peace. “This is a holiday first of all for our students. We need peace most of all when the situation is politically unstable. Within this event, we inaugurated the Peace Alley and planted roses on the territory of the lyceum. Afterward, we staged an artistic program entitled “We want Peace!”. We involved students from different grades in the event,” the lyceum’s vice director Veronica Moisei has told IPN.
She added that they exchanged information with the official delegation of Japan and South Korea and compared the education systems of Moldova and those of the two countries.
According to Veronica Moisei, similar events will be organized the next years too.
Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on September 21. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.
