The local public authorities reacted to the case of the three siblings who are in the process of being matched to adopters from the United States. Deputy mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu asked for an internal inquiry to establish all the circumstances, including the role of the local public administration in this conflict, IPN reports.
The request was made following accusations that the children do not want to be adopted by the U.S. family, but the authorities exert pressure on them, which were made by the head of the public association “Child Defender” Tamara Plamadeala.
In the February 1 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, Nistor Grozavu said the investigation will be conducted by the local Child Rights Protection Division in concert with the General Education, Youth and Sports Division. It’s not clear what’s going on and what the solution can be. “On the one hand, they say that the local public administration is to blame for this conflict. On the other hand, it is within the competence of the expert central public administration bodies to deal with such cases,” said the deputy mayor.
The head of the Child Rights Protection Division Svetlana Chifa said that persons who do not know well the legislation became involved in this case of adoption. “By giving news conferences, these persons mislead the people. The adoption procedure is deal with by the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, which acted in accordance with the law,” she stated.
According to Svetlana Chifa, the administration of the boarding school No. 3, where the children are now, adopted a strange position. “We should determine the relationship between the three siblings and their view as to a possible solution,” she said.
In a news conference earlier, Tamara Plamadeala said the children oppose the adoption and are thus pressed by the central and local public authorities into giving their consent. The children’s legal representative suspects the authorities pursue a personal goal in this case of adoption.
