The head of the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service of the Ministry of the Interior Vitalie Moisei said they will concentrate efforts on measures aimed at fighting police corruption. The issue was developed in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

“We will not start a lot of criminal cases over petty matters, but will focus on the prevention of corruption. We will resort to testing the integrity, by the polygraph. The police officers are obliged to declare any attempt to corrupt them made by people. But there are few such denouncements. Anyway, we will leave no case reported by the people unsolved,” said Vitalie Moisei.

He also said that one of the measures to prevent police corruption is to ensure decent salaries even if the small salaries, in his opinion, do not represent an excuse for the police officers who take bribe. “Providing decent salaries is an important aspect in corruption fighting. The administration of the Ministry of the Interior is taking measures to increase the salaries of the police,” he stated.

Vitalie Moisei denied the rumors that there is a pyramid for collecting financial resources in the police and that police officers pay particular taxes to their chiefs for being allowed to work. “I do not know and see no meaning in this. Why should a prosecution officer, for example, pay for keeping his job when he gets a salary of 5,000 lei?”, he asked.
