Regardless of the situation in Moldova, every member of the governmental team must fulfill consciously their duties so that the people do not feel the negative effects of the political problems, interim Premier Iurie Leanca said in a news conference on April 25. He stated he will ask his colleagues from the Cabinet to forget that they represent different parties and to work for the country’s benefit, IPN reports.

The official said that he accepted this post in order to ensure the continuity of the reforms under implementation and of the country’s European integration course. “It is a period of transition that coincides with the most important period through which Moldova goes, from the European integration perspective. Most of the work for preparing the Association Agreement for signing was already done. A responsible and complex period follows as we must get ready for the Eastern Partnership Summit of Vilnius. In order to achieve the set objectives by this summit, we must have stability at home,” he stated.

Iurie Leanca voiced hope that he will hold the post of interim Prime Minister for a short period of time and that the negotiations on the formation of a new Government will end as soon as possible so that Moldova continues its development path in conditions of stability.
