Interim Mayor, Vasile Ursu, sees an indignant thing in the fact that the municipal press “ventures to politicize” and fails to elucidate all the activities of the local authorities, which, according to his words “are meant to improve the lives of the capital’s inhabitants”.
Ursu expressed his reproach on Monday, October 9, during a working meeting of the Mayoralty, in the context of a reportage broadcasted by „Euro-TV Chisinau” in which it was stated that the Romanian Language Day was not celebrated in the Square of the Great National Assembly (PMAN), the place where the Romanian language was decreed as national language, while the show of the Wine Festival was granted green light for 2 days. According to Ursu, the language should be celebrated year round, and not “limited to drinking booze in the PMAN after which we would collect tons of garbage”.
At the same time, Ursu showed himself displeased by an interview of the same television post with the drivers who had to wait for hours in jams on the streets adjacent to Stefan cel Mare Blvd., which was blocked during the Holiday of Wine. The interim mayor suggested the representatives of the municipal mass-media that they “do not politicize, which is the preoccupation of politicians” but reflect those measures which improve the lives of the inhabitants of Chisinau. He also reminded that the reporter of “Antena C” radio station was absent at the ceremony of putting into operation of a portion of the Ismail str.
Ursu accused the municipal press representatives of “eating out of the municipal budget” and “riding the budget”.
In the same context, Ursu showed his disapproval with the activity of the municipal newspaper “Capitala–Stolita”, pages of which, according to his words, host criticism, in detriment to the objective reflection of the activity of local authorities.
After the municipal press agency Info-Prim was liquidated, the municipal press is represented by “Antena C” radio station, “Euro-TV Chisinau” television post and “Capitala-Stolita” newspaper.
