Interest rate on loans in lei goes up

The average weighted interest rate on loans provided in national currency this January rose by 0.65% compared with last December, to 11.60%, but decreased by 0.69% on last January, IPN reports.

The loans repayable in two to five years remained the most attractive ones. They represented 37.1% of all the loans provided in national currency last month.

The largest number of new loans in lei were released to legal entities, at an average interest rate of 11.19% (76.5% of the total volume of loans provided in national currency). The average rate on loans intended for private individuals was 12.91%.

The new loans in foreign currency this January included mainly loans granted to legal entities, at an average rate of 7.47% (99.3% of all the loans in foreign currency). The loans repayable in two to five years were the most popular among the loans provided in foreign currency. They represented 45.3% of all the loans in foreign currency, being released at an average interest rate of 7.66%.
