Interest in electric cars in Moldova grows

More people in Moldova use electric cars, with the number of such cars being on the rise the past five years. The number of electric cars and hybrid cars registered in Moldova by private individuals in 2022 was twice higher than a year before, IPN reports.

Even if the electric and hybrid cars represent only about 3% of all the motor vehicles registered in Moldova, the perception of the importance of reducing energy consumption in transport has improved nationwide.

By the type of the used technology, 1,998 cars registered the past five years are electric ones, while 25,541 are hybrid ones. As many as 1,489 electric cars are owned by private individuals, while 509 by legal entities. Also, 22,993 hybrid cars are owned by private individuals, while 2,548 by legal entities, with the hybrid technology being increasingly popular.

The Energy Efficiency Agency encourages the road traffic participants to choose vehicles with reduced CO2 emissions, such as electric and hybrid cars.
