Inter-religious conference on family and its role in society will be held in Chisinau for the first time

An inter-religious conference on family and its role in the society will take place in Chisinau on November 15. This is the first event of the kind to be held in Moldova, organized by the Italian Association “Amici dei Bambini” and by the Social Mission “Diaconia”. Valentina Purcel, office manager of the Italian Association’s Office in Moldova, told Info-Prim Neo that the conference aims to sensitize the local communities to the phenomenon of child abandonment through the agency of clergy. According to Valentina Purcel, the conference will bring together about 60 representatives of different churches and religions as well as NGOs from Moldova, Italy, Ukraine, and Romania. The theme “Family – Resource of the Community” will be discussed during the first part of the event. There will be presented a short analysis of the phenomenon of abandonment in Moldova and of the possible solutions identified through the project “Support to Socially Vulnerable Families to Prevent Child Abandonment in Moldova”, which is co-financed by the European Union. The analysis will centre on the family as a solution to the problem of abandonment. The second part of the conference financed by the Association “Amici dei Bambini” and the Social Mission “Diaconia” will be themed “Accepting in His Name” and will address the issue of family from spiritual viewpoint. A roundtable meeting of representatives of different religious confessions in Moldova will be organised at the end of the conference.
