Employees of the Public Amenities Division of Chisinau last week worked intensively to clean snow from streets, sidewalks and public transport stations in the capital city, IPN reports.
The Division’s deputy head Gennady Dubița, in the January 14 meeting of officials of municipal services and divisions, said that 15 tractors, eight Hako machines and 215 workers were involved in the snow removal process on January 6, when it snowe lightly. On January 10 and 11, the number of workers was doubled to 400. These were assisted by 26 tractors and nine Hako machines.
On the weekend, a large part of the snow gathered on sidewalks and central arteries was taken away.
According to Gennady Dubiţa, the Public Amenities Division has available up to 80 tonnes of antiskid materials. A tender contest to purchase another 300 tonnes of salt and 400 tonnes of sand is being staged.
