Two insurance companies operating in Moldova warn the authorities and the European institutions that there are certain sectors in Moldova that oppose changes and persons who think they should not observe the law, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference, representatives of Donaris Group and Moldcargo accused the National Green Card Office of discriminatory treatment as their applications to join the given institution were rejected. In a letter to Premier Vlad Filat, the Austrian Private Equity Investor, which owns the largest shareholding in Donaris Group, says they have tried to obtain the right to join Moldova's Green Card system for two years, but all in vain. “Even if Donaris Group S.A. meets all the legislative norms and the conditions outlined in the related international treaties and statutes, the Green Card Office in Chisinau considers the formulation of the Green Card policy as a personal privilege,” says the letter signed by Christian Brandstettet, the representative of the Austrian group. The same letter, which was sent to the President of the European Omission Jose Manuel Barroso too, says a network of 'comrades” operates in Moldova and constantly tries to discredit the laws, affecting thus the foreign investors. Vladimir Florea, director general of Moldcargo, said the Office's refusal to accept new members derives from the unwillingness to allow other companies to enter the insurance market. Donaris Group director general Tudor Ungureanu said the last time the applications filed by the two companies were examined on December 15, but no decision was made as the four active members of the Office abstained from voting. Earlier, the Anti-Monopole Commission and the Financial Market Supervision Commission warned the National Green Card Office over its discriminatory treatment, but no reaction followed. The representatives of the two companies consider that the Office should be deprived of license. Donaris Group and Moldcargo top the rankings of the insurance companies by the results achieved the last few years.
